MISSION

Nurturing the biodynamic movement in North America through education, research, and development.

The Biodynamic Farming and Gardening Association was incorporated in New York on February 3, 1938. On June 6, 1947, the Corporation was recognized as tax-exempt under Section 101(b) of the Internal Revenue Code, as then in effect, and has continued to be a tax-exempt charity. The Corporation is, and shall continue to qualify as, a publicly supported charitable organization exempt from federal taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 or the corresponding provision of any subsequent law.


The purpose of the Association is to foster knowledge of the practices and principles of the biodynamic method of agriculture, horticulture, and forestry in the North American continent and to advance the applications of this method through educational activities such as research, lectures, conferences; publishing and distributing literature on the biodynamic methods; and supporting consultation and extension services to farmers, gardeners, and foresters. It may undertake other charitable activities related to such principal purpose.


PROGRAMS
The Association undertakes the following programs:

  • production and distribution of the Association's quarterly membership journal, Biodynamics
  • publishing and selling books
  • supporting the training of farmers, gardeners, apprentices, and interns
  • conducting and supporting conferences and workshops
  • producing educational information and online resources
  • assisting regional biodynamic groups
  • supporting the development of the North American Biodynamic Apprenticeship Program
  • supporting research efforts
  • working closely with the the Demeter Association, the Demeter Biodynamic Trade Association, the Agriculture Section, and the Josephine Porter Institute
