Dear friends,
In recent days and weeks, news and fear of the global spread of the novel coronavirus has been everywhere. With so many cancellations of local events and gatherings, we feel it is ever more important for the Biodynamic Association to provide meaningful ways to connect across distance. As a community dedicated to health and healing for Earth and humanity, how do we respond to this crisis, individually and collectively? What unique capacities and tools can biodynamics offer to help us engage with what the world is asking of us? We invite you to share your thoughts in this survey about what is needed and what is possible as we navigate these challenging times together.
Also, on Thursday, March 26, at 2:00-3:15 pm ET, we are holding space for a BDA Member Conversation Salon on “Engaging Community in Times of Fear and Uncertainty”. We will discuss biodynamic and anthroposophical perspectives on health and disease, and explore how we can support each other and our communities as we adapt to changing global and local conditions. We hope you will join us and other BDA members, including anthroposophical medical doctors David Gershan and Adam Blanning; Patricia Frazier, a trained nurse and biodynamic farmer; and Deb Soule, a biodynamic herbalist, for this conversation. If you’re unable to make it to the live salon, we will post a recording afterwards on our Member Conversation Salons page. If you're not a current member, you are warmly welcomed to become part of the BDA member community to connect and collaborate with others who see the potential of biodynamics to build resilience and cultivate health and vitality, now and into the future. What we can co-create together is more important than ever for our communities and the world.
The Anthroposophical Society in America is also offering an online community gathering this Thursday, March 19, at 7:30 pm ET. John Bloom, Angela Foster, and Linda Bergh will host a discussion on “If Our Courage Is Not To Fail Us” to provide space to reaffirm community, connection, meditative practices, and the meaning of our new experiences.
Our Community Connections page offers a number of ways to build community through biodynamics. An additional opportunity to connect and contribute: we have some roles opening up on the BDA staff team and will be hiring for a part-time position focused on administrative support for our team and programs, and a full-time position focused on fundraising, communications, and evaluation. If you or someone you know might be interested in contributing to the Biodynamic Association as a member of our staff, please review the position announcements for full details. We are looking forward to bringing two more talented and creative people to contribute to the health of the Earth and humanity through this work!
All of us at the BDA wish you health and resilience, and we look forward to connecting with you soon!
Thea Maria Carlson
Executive Director
P.S. Don't forget to share your thoughts with us!
