Heartwood Farms is accepting Seasonal Internship applications of 1-3 months.
Heartwood Farms is a new chapter to a small farming family’s 100 year legacy in Linden, California. Working on the shoulders of two generations, we are proud to continue the story. We grow walnuts, cherries, and apricots on 170 acres. Our cherries are certified Organic since 2010, and currently we are reinventing much of our practices across all acres into a bio rich and connected farm-scape.
Guiding Practices:
- Biodynamic Agriculture is our main interest, and ideal.
- Organics on all acreage is our necessary frontier for market distinction.
- Regenerative encourages us to experiment and join the conversation.
Help us in this work and on the ground research of how to to build Biodynamics - Organics - Regenerative into our orchard systems. Internship offers hands-on opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of our farm. Much of the days work is outside and physical. In addition to orchard management we have a kitchen garden and landscaping around the houses to work on. If there are additional interests in working on our consumer relations and education this is also possible. Or construction, mechanics and welding. Or food preservation could also be part of an internship as your interests lead you we will work with you. Our Farm Interns need to be able to keep up a rigorous work ethic and be good with working alone and with others.
Accepting Interns now (Mid-May) through July and again September through November. Housing and stipend available. Room for 1-3 Interns at a time. Interns receive on-site housing, one communal meal a day on work days and a weekly stipend. It is great for interns to have their own vehicle, but not necessary. The Internship is a five day a week vocational training. Linden is 2hrs East of San Francisco, 1hr South of Sacramento and just outside Stockton.
