The Camphill communities in North America are part of an international movement of intentional communities that bring together individuals of all abilities through a combination of community life, the arts and work on the land where the recognition of each individual’s contributions offer a model of renewal for the wider society.
Yggdrasil Land Foundation’s purpose is to protect sustainable and biodynamic farmland, create land access for farmers, and cultivate agriculture-based regional economies. YLF owns land and manages conservation easements in three regions of the United States: Southeastern Wisconsin, Southern New Hampshire, and Northern California. YLF is a supporting organization to the Biodynamic Association (WI), Michael Fields Agricultural Institute (WI), and RSF Social Finance (CA).
Hawthorne Valley Farm is located on a 400+-acre biodynamic farm with dairy herd, small animals, vegetable gardens that serve 4 CSA groups and 5 Greenmarkets, on-site creamery, bakery, and lacto-fermented artisan food production, Hawthorne Valley includes diverse place-based learning opportunities from an early childhood through 12th grade independent day school to summer camps and afterschool programs, and ecological and social research initiatives as well as artistic studies.
