Children of the Rainforest JD Coordinator English Spanish.pdf | 610.72 KB |
This is someones dream job if I can only find them.
Children of the Rainforest is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping the indigenous peoples of Pilón Lajas, Bolivia build healthy, happy and sustainable communities. We work by responding to the needs expressed by these communities, and invest in education, healthcare and clean water. We have a strong connection to Biodynamic Agriculture, Rudolf Steiner inspired initiatives and Waldorf Education. Their is much that is possible.
Last summer I went to Bolivia to be with my family and also to assist my father as he visited the tribes he has worked with these past 18 years in his capacity as founder of the Children of the Rainforest nonprofit. Throughout our journey I encountered many very special people amongst 7 small communities of the Quiquibay River to the north of Rurrenabaque, Bolivia that we visited- women, men and small children. Their needs, tragedies, triumphs and stories, their unique relationship to the rivers and all that comprises the Amazon jungle in its myriads, their myths, legends and lore- their plant knowledge, their physical strength and laughter amidst struggle brought me wonder, awe and more than a little awakened curiosity to what is possible. The extreme challenges these people face as they seek to balance their traditions and culture with the modern world with little to no support from any agency except apparently our own left me - committed. There is much to be honored, respected and learnt from them. There are paths forward that can be taken that will support these good people to overcome many challenges that face them from our modern age. To this end.. and because I have committed to this work and those beautiful people.... I am sending out glad news amidst a request.
We are seeking a Coordinator of our work in Pilon Lajas with the indigenous tribes Children of the Rainforest strives to support. This person will help determine our path forward by learning and listening to the peoples needs around education, health care, clean water, healthy food, agricultural practices and whatever other challenges they may have.
We are looking for a bilingual (Spanish/English) person to act as our local coordinator and live within the Pilón Lajas biosphere reserve. This person will have:
• excellent oral and written communication skills
• a team-building and collaborative nature
• a passion for innovation and social entrepreneurship
• a “can do” attitude
• experience in cross-cultural environments
Those with experience with Biodynamic Agriculture and Waldorf Education preferred but not required.
Our Coordinator Job Description is attached.
If this position is not for you but you know someone who may be our person- or a school or program that might help lead us to our person(s) or other colloboration possibilities please write, forward and share.
Gratefully,
Carolina Allen Board President
