BDA Updates

By Olivia Sanders and Rocky Ramos: We are so grateful to have shared a magical five days at the Biodynamic Conference in Portland, Oregon with over 800 other biodynamic farmers, activists and advocates just three weeks ago. The weekend was buzzing with courageous, heart-opening conversations and deep questioning of society, consciousness, and agriculture.

By Rebecca Briggs: As a member of the BDA staff team, the Biodynamic Conference is for me, in many ways, a realization of all the work we do all year, whether in planning the conference itself or on our many other projects.

By Thea Maria Carlson: For transformation to happen, we need courage. Courage to step outside our comfort zones. Courage to keep going when we hit the rough spots. Courage to risk who we thought we were and what we thought we knew. And courage comes from the heart.

By Jim Embry: During the Biodynamic Conference on Friday November 16, I will be presenting a workshop, George Washington Carver and the Biodynamic Movement. What I will attempt to do here is provide a “pay it forward” invitation for conference attendees to drink from Carver’s cup, which has been grossly neglected and misunderstood for so many years.

Thea Maria Carlson: Since I began working with the Biodynamic Association in 2011, one of my greatest joys has been co-organizing the North American Biodynamic Conference, an incredible gathering that has grown to more than 800 participants from across the Americas and around the world.

We are excited to share that after months of development, the Board of Directors and staff of the Biodynamic Association (BDA) have adopted a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement....

Celebrating 80 years of the Biodynamic Association and sharing early history.

In honor of Christopher Mann's lifelong dedication to the work of Rudolf Steiner and the growth of the biodynamic movement, the BDA has established the Christopher Mann Biodynamic Scholarship Fund with a generous $25,000 lead gift from Stacy Peterson, CEO of ConnOils, LLC in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

The Biodynamic Association (BDA) is pleased to welcome Thea Maria Carlson as Executive Director, and to celebrate the continued contribution of former Executive and Co-Director Robert Karp in a new role, as Strategic Advisor and Community Builder at Large.
