Core Biodynamic Courses
Understanding the Principles & Practices of Biodynamics
In partnership with
Do you want to establish a biodynamic practice or renew your inspiration? Join our Core Biodynamics courses! Choose the modules that meet your interests, or attend them all for a full picture of this new path for a healing agriculture. Discounts are available when registering for more than one course.
Our series starts with Goethean Science as the foundation of biodynamic practice. Other courses apply this holistic science to explore different elements of the farm and garden. There is also a course exploring the relationship of inner development, spiritual science, and anthroposophy to biodynamic practice.
These courses are open to all experience levels. They will offer presentations, conversation spaces, and experiential exercises.
Anthony Mecca is the primary teacher for all courses with other presenters TBA.
Registration: We're striving to make these courses as accessible as possible through affordable rates.

Holistic Science, Metamorphosis, and Plant Development
4 sessions, Tuesdays 1:00-3:00 pm ET
January 7, 14, 21, 28
With Anthony Mecca and others TBA
Explore the underpinnings behind biodynamics to enrich your relationship to the natural world and yourself. Extend the scientific method to know living beings more objectively in their wholeness. Weave together outer quantifiable perceptions and information with qualities and inner experience.
Includes supplemental readings from EduCareDo Foundation Course in Anthroposophy (link is external) and article from Craig Holdredge of the Nature Institute (link is external)
Inner Development, Spiritual Science, and Anthroposophy
12 sessions, Wednesdays 1:00-3:00 pm ET
January 8, 15, 22, 29

March 5, 12, 19, 26
April 2
With Anthony Mecca
Work experientially with Rudolf Steiner's How to Know Higher Worlds in relationship to biodynamics towards fuller experience and participation with the realm of life, the etheric. Just as there are varied landscapes and beings active in the physical world, we may also come to recognize and consciously participate in the rich inner, spiritual world. These so-called outer and inner worlds deeply interpenetrate and influence each other.
Soil Health and Composting
4 sessions, Thursdays 1:00-3:00 pm ET
January 9, 16, 23, 30
With Anthony Mecca and others TBA
Explore soils and composting from a biodynamic perspective that recognizes the living forces and soul-spiritual qualities. We will bring well known approaches to knowing and caring for soil into perspective and introduce methods particular to biodynamics.
Includes a lesson from the EduCareDo Year-long 12 Lesson Course Biodynamic Agriculture and Nutrition (link is external)and a compilation of articles from Biodynamics Journal.
Cosmic Rhythms and the Influence of the Sun, Moon, Planets, and Zodiac
3 sessions, Thursdays 1:00-3:00 pm ET
Feb 13, 20, 27
With Anthony Mecca and others TBA
Cosmic rhythms are active within and reflected throughout the natural world and the human being. While the so-called biodynamic calendar based on Maria Thun's work is often taken as proven, there are many questions and different ways of exploring, understanding, and working with the Sun, Moon, Planets, and Zodiac. We will work with entrypoints to experiencing and participating in rhythms of metamophrosis found in the relationships between the celestial beings. Practical observation, record keeping, and inner experience will be primary tools along with conversation and sharing. We will also work with a variety of research conducted over the years.
A compilation of articles and research on cosmic rhythms is included.
Understanding Animals to Build Caring, Empowering Relationships
4 sessions, Tuesdays 1:00-3:00 pm ET
March 4, 11, 18, 25
With Anthony Mecca and others TBA
Animals are vital contributors to all natural ecosystems and the life of the earth as a whole. Likewise, they are important to the life of farms and gardens. We will explore animals from their viewpoint towards experiencing them anew as whole beings that each offer gifts towards greater health. Animal consciousness and the human-animal relationship will be illuminated through inquiry.
A compilation of articles on animals, both practical and philosophical, is included.
Healthy Social Life, Ecology, and Economy
4 sessions, Thursdays 1:00-3:00 pm ET
March 6, 13, 18, 20, 27
With Anthony Mecca and others TBA
Social life, ecology, and economy are three interwoven aspects of life overall that are commonly divorced and misunderstood. We will look at their activites and relationships through goethean and spiritual science to understand their underlying laws of health. Rudolf Steiner's Threefold Social Organism offers insights towards bridging everyday individual striving and work with societal issues and questions.
A compilation of articles on social life from an anthroposophical view is included.
