NOFA-NH Seeks Organic Farmers for 7th Annual Subsidized Farm Share Program

NOFA-NH Seeks Organic Farmers for 7th Annual Subsidized Farm Share Program

Concord, NH, March 3, 2023: The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Hampshire (NOFA-NH) is seeking certified organic CSA farmers to participate in their 7th annual Farm Share Program, which provides limited-income New Hampshire residents with certified organic farm shares at a discounted rate. Participating farmers contribute 25% of CSA costs, NOFA-NH contributes 50%, and farm share recipients cover the remaining 25%. Farms must be NOFA-NH members, certified organic, and have an active CSA program to participate.

Last year, NOFA-NH’s Farm Share program distributed 50 subsidized organic farm shares to 160+ recipients in 8 counties across New Hampshire. 11 certified organic farms participated in this program in which recipients received food for between 12 and 26 weeks. Farm share recipients shared about this program:

"I'm writing this to let you know the impact this 1/2 share is having on the community and access to good food for more than one. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this program. I appreciate NOFA-NH for bringing this to my community."

And,

"My family and I are not new to CSAs, but we've had a tumultuous couple of years... and didn't know if we could make it work this year. With NOFA's help, we're so glad to be able to participate with Work Song Farm. What a beautiful and special place.”

NOFA-NH hopes to expand the program in 2023 to increase food security and agricultural viability in the Granite State.

You can help improve the lives of your neighbors in need and promote good food access for all by participating in this vital program as a certified organic New Hampshire farm! Farm applications are due March 13, 2023. Learn more and apply at www.nofanh.org/farm-share-program.

This program is possible through the generous support of NOFA-NH’s “Share the Bounty” Sponsors: Monadnock Food Co-op, Vital Communities, The Local Crowd Cooperative Upper Valley, Merrimack County Savings Bank, Revival Kitchen & Bar, Kearsarge Food Hub, Warner Public Market, The Works Bakery & Café, C&S Wholesale Grocers, and Flatbread Pizza Company. The program is also supported by a regional USDA Farmers Market Promotion Program grant.
