Event Description

Bente, Jae and Aspen have all run farm programs. They have a lot to share about how they have done it and what they see in kids that attend these programs.

These gals are all experienced Waldorf teachers or in a training program to get that certification. Bente, in particular has had a long career both as a class teacher and 25 years now as a FarmWise LLC program leader in Wisconsin. She wrote a book about what kids learn while doing.  "Childhood is a Verb! Why a Virtual Childhood isn’t enough”

Will education is surely what we do with kids in these farm settings. What does it mean to educate the will of children? The more machines we have that do all the tasks that we used to do manually, the less the will of all of us is activated. Thus, especially since the I-Phone landed in our hands, this farm education, that is about the physical reality around us, is becoming more and more needed.  We will talk about what it means to do a chore or task repeatedly and how it develops habits that is, you could say, ’solidified’ will force that  will help a person through life. What qualities are our technological kids missing out on? How do we heal anxiousness and meaninglessness and lack of motivation in our kids? We farm educators think we have solutions to these modern worries. Please join us!
