MESA is thrilled to introduce the Sustainable Agriculture and Global Exchange (SAGE) program, an initiative designed to connect international farmers with U.S.-based farms and organizations. SAGE offers affordable, J-1 visa-designated training opportunities, fostering sustainable farming practices and global agricultural leadership.
Key Highlights:
-
Host farms provide Stewards with guidance and supervised, hands-on training averaging 40 hours/week. Hosts also provide a lodging/food/stipend package. Stewards typically train with one Host site for 6-12 months.
-
MESA oversees the matching process between ag-experienced, enthusiastic Stewards and Host partners. We also provide Stewards with legal trainee visas, health insurance, educational enrichment, and 24/7 coordinator support.
-
SAGE is affordable! Hosting with MESA is less expensive or comparable to many agricultural internship programs, and less than a typical hourly wage.
-
Finally, you and your team will engage in a unique cultural exchange and pass on your knowledge to the next generation of farmers.
